Whiskey's Zine of Sour Cream

from $15.00

A zine collecting recipes and stories related to Sour Cream and inspired by a cat named Whiskey, who loves sour cream.

Written by Sofie Sherman-Burton (author of Flavor, Two Plum Press’s first title) and Andrew Barton (publisher, author of The Long Loaf, Autumn Wanderers, and more). The next title under our Nickel Dinner imprint. 40 pages on high-quality old-stock paper. Covers of the first printing range from pale purple to eggshell blue. 100% of the proceeds go towards helping pay for medical bills.

From the introduction:

"We probably love that she loves sour cream
because we also really love sour cream. It is
incredibly rare for us not to have a tub in
the fridge. It’s good! On so many things! This
zine is a testament to that – the many
delicious ways to use our cat’s favorite
condiment.
I came up with the idea to make this little
publication while Whiskey was hospitalized for
pancreatitis and an ensuing liver infection.
It was a stressful and scary and very (very!)
expensive weekend – and her first serious
health problem since she’s been in my care.
She seems fine now, which is great! This
recipe collection is a modest effort to help
my bank account bounce back, too. Thanks for
your support! I hope you find this small book
both enjoyable and full of delicious things!
Love to you and any furry creature you love!
Consider pet insurance!"

Features the following recipe sections:

DIPS! (‘Sofie’s Famous’ caramelized onion dip, and more!)

HATS OFF TO HUNGARY (Andrew shares his Hungarian influenced cooking in writing for the first time!)

SOMETHING SWEET (Where the tanginess of sour cream shines!)

GREEN MOUNTAIN GRINGOS (from ‘Ladies Delight’ to ‘Middle School Tacos’!)
